Ambrose Bierce was born in Ohio on June 24, 1842 and was known to some as "Bitter Bierce". He fought in The Civil War and was commended for his bravery at least fifteen times while in service. He is an author who wrote many realistic stories that revolved around war. He is also known for his harsh endings and gruesome plot lines.
